God is working in the lives of others.
Hello everyone! A few weeks to report on. Before I begin, I want you to know that I am now in a trio with Sister Bailey and Sister Carter. As you know we had General Conference a few weeks ago. It was a wonderful time for me and Sister Bailey. We had a lot of cool members have us over for General Conference they fed us so much food and we were able to take home food with us too. So much so that we didn't even need to buy groceries this week which was a miracle because we had $0 left for the week in our mission budget. A few pictures below of that weekend.
The pictures above are of us (Sister Bailey and me) with Sister Lynn Stickle. She is so positive and always helping us. She is a convert of the church and such a wonderful person and example to me. She is always telling us that she waited her entire life to find the church and that she wants everyone else to hear the message so that they can experience the same joy that she has. She is an example to me and a pure RAY OF SUNSHINE!
On P-Day a few weeks ago we helped Sister Stickle with a project in her yard.
Later she treated us to Pizza! We love the members here. Below is another family in the ward that had us over to watch conference. It is so wonderful to have so many people that open their homes to us.
This is the Ping family. They had us over and gave us both an entire pizza so we could take it home to eat that week.
We have been working with a man named Darrell who came to General Conference and brought his daughter with him! That's a true sign of conversion. After conference was over, we texted him and asked if he had any questions. His answer surprised us, he replied, "I don't have any other questions, I've searched every religion out there and this is God's Church, and I'm all in. Let's talk about baptism" So really, we can't take the credit for any of this. We taught him the first vision and he said that he saw a light behind us as we taught the lesson. We will continue to work with him and let you know what happens.
On P-Day we got together with our District for some games and also went for Ethiopian food. That was a real treat.
Me with all of the sisters in my District!
I will be getting a new companion on Wednesday (Tomorrow)! Sister Bailey is going to be a STL (Sister Training Leader) In Sacramento! That's super cool! Especially because she's right out of training and now she's trained me (my initial training) and she's off to be a STL and a Spanish STL! She's never been in a Spanish area..... except for the past week. She was called to Sacramento Spanish speaking but has not been in many Spanish areas until this week with me. This week I've been sitting in on a lot of Spanish lessons, sacraments meetings, street contacts, church meetings... all of which were in Spanish. One bonus with having an assigned Spanish speaking companion is that foreign speakers get an extra hour of study per day and that has meant I get to study an extra hour too.
I will be leading out Eastern Ave this transfer!!!!!!! What already??? The Lord trusts that I'll be willing to rely on him! That also means I'll be driving ahhhh! (My parents are lying on the floor after fainting when reading this.)
The really great thing about this whole transfer is that God is at the helm! God has 5 transfers ahead planned out, well, even more than that. But, basically he gives the Mission President line upon line so that we can be exactly where we need to be to do what the Lord needs us to do! Sister Ishoy will be my new companion. The people we are teaching are exactly where they need to be so that Sister Ishoy and I can share our knowledge and the spirit with them. GOD IS GOOD!
Below are some fun pictures from the last few weeks.
Small world picture and story, this is Sister Dayley. She is Principal Aaron Hogge the Principal of Bountiful High's Mom. Below is Sister Benton from the ward, in an even smaller world she is Principal Hogge's Sister. I have been so impressed because at their home the door is always open. None of the teenagers in this picture are her children. She has a way of making everyone feel welcome and so many of the youth of the church want to be around her. She also invited our investigator Daryl and his daughter to watch conference with them. He is in this picture in the plaid shirt jacket with his daughter and Sister Bailey next to them.
This is me and my companions eating at Jacks Urban Eatery with Dina from the ward. The ward members are so good to us!
This is the Hedges family. They are a sweet family in the Spanish ward. We cleaned the church with them and then they had us over for Chilaquiles, my dad's favorite! After we were finished cleaning the church on Saturday a man walked up and wanted to see the architecture inside. We started talking with him and learned he wasn't a member but was looking for a church to go to. Had we not been at the church helping clean we would not have been there to meet him. We got his information, and we invited him to church.
This is us at Book of Mormon study with some of the members of the YSA ward. I am currently serving with the YSA ward.
This is another wonderful family from my ward. We eat dinner with them almost twice a week. Can you believe it? What an amazing family that would open their doors to us so much!
This is our friend Trevon. He is meeting with us, and we love to teach him. His dad is a minister, and he has missed of few of his dad's sermons to be at church with us. His car was broken into and the thief's stole some of the engine parts, so his car did not work anymore. Instead of cancelling on us he walked to the appointment. We have a young single adult fireside with Elder Sores this next weekend and he is planning on coming. The other picture is Damon he is a convert from a year ago and has been joining us during our discussions.
This is me and Sister Carter and Sister Bailey with three new members. We have been meeting with them to teach new member lessons. Two of them are brothers and one is their cousin. They are Spanish speakers and do not speak a lot of English. Sister Carter and Sister Bailey speak Spanish but for most of the lesson I just sit and listen.
This is Sister Carter and I. We were on an exchange. It was raining but I was so excited for the opportunity to ride a bike that I did not care. It was so fun!!!
This is Sister Bailey and I with LaShon and we have been teaching her. She loves the plan of Salvation and love the Lord. She also loves to have us visit and I believe she can feel the spirit. However, at this time in her life she is not ready to fully except the Gospel. So, we will not be teaching her anymore right now. However, I got a text from her just a few days ago and she told me that she was thinking about us and missed our visits. Maybe we or other future missionaries will be able to continue the discussions.
Update on Kat. We have been teaching her since I arrived in Sacramento. The first day I arrived in Sacramento I met Kat. She was my very first lesson. Sister Bailey asked me to teach the restoration. We have been teaching her ever since. She has been praying for a date for baptism and looking forward to it. Our visits with her have been less frequent and we are looking forward to a continuing our visits with her.
A few more pictures with Sister Bailey, Carter and Me some of the other members in the area. Love you all! HAVE A GOOD WEEK! I LOVE MY MISSION AND I AM SO HAPPY TO BE HERE!!!!
