He stretches us so we can feel the vastness of his power.
I'm laughing literally every single day and by the end of the day I'm so exhausted that I can't remember all the funny and cool things that happened....I'll be working on that next transfer!
Transfers are on June 2nd however I'll be getting a new companion tomorrow! Sister Ishoy has some medical things to take care of that requires her to go home for a little while. I will miss her, however I am looking forward to my new companion. We actually came out to the field together! She is super outgoing and down to earth and I'm excited to have somebody that I can work with in unison.
We are teaching 12 people currently.
All of them are progressing.
This week all except for 3 of them are keeping commitments, meeting with us weekly or twice a week and are solid.
3 of them are YSA age. (I work with the YSA ward)
I Would love you to tell you a little bit more about my friends. But because of privacy laws and such I have to keep it pretty vague. We had two of our friends come to church. Both of which we hadn't even taught a lesson too. We had invited them in passing. I prayed on Sunday morning asking God to help two of our friends come to church. I even went as far as asking as I discussed last week with a direct request. "I want one in the River City ward and one in the Eastern Avenue ward." I told God that I had faith that he will make this happen. About 5 minutes into Sacrament, we look over and our friend who we will call Larry, walks in. Sister Ishoy and I look at each other, we are literally in utter shock. How can this be???
We had invited Larry, in passing. Honestly. We had texted him a reminder on Saturday just in case he needed a little encouragement or a reminder. Really cool how that worked out! I know faith is a power that makes things happen when God wants them to happen.
We had some exchanges this week. During these exchanges we had back-to-back miracles, let me explain. We had stopped by the mission office to pick up some supplies. Afterwards I felt prompted to pray where we should go to lunch. This didn't make much sense at first. "Would God really prompt us about where to eat?" I looked up a few places to eat on Google Maps and we decided on one. But after a minute it didn't feel right. I asked my companion if we could go to a different place. While at the restaurant we saw a family that was there eating. I prayed to know if we would be able to have an opportunity to talk with them. However, the opportunity didn't happen, and I thought it might just not be their time. After eating lunch, we went to the park later in the day to make some calls and texts..... Guess who walks by us? The family that we saw at the restaurant! God truly does answer prayers. And he answers them according to his will and his timetable.
Another experience I had was earlier that day I had prayed to know what people we should go visit. The name Tyler came to my mind. However, I was on exchanges and had no idea who Tyler could be. I typed up Tyler into the phone to see whose numbers we had that corresponded with that name and there was about eight or nine. All of a sudden, we got a text from somebody who hadn't texted us in about a month. And guess what their name was......Tyler! It was pretty cool to see how the Lord is guiding us every second of every day. We also taught the restoration over Google Translate in the park which was pretty fun! Later that day we went to Deseret Book because our friend Cheryl was getting baptized, and we had stopped to pick something up for the baptism. While there we met this girl who was getting her Bible engraved at Desert book. She gave us her number and wants us to reach out to her. She's YSA age and is in our area which is super cool!
Later that day we went to our baptism and our other friend Roy came! He was able to meet the mission president's wife Sister Zimmerman. When the person getting baptized asked Roy if he was getting baptized soon, he said that he didn't have a date, but that he thinks it's what's next on his path.
Above- Sister Ishoy, Me and Sister Zimmerman
I've had some of the hardest weeks these last 6 weeks. However, I have realized looking back that I was literally growing so much! I know that the Lord's atonement works I know that he's given me patient and kindness. I'm so grateful that I was assigned to be with Sister Ishoy on her last week's here. I believe I was able to help her feel loved and help her get the help she needed. The Lord truly does work in mysterious ways.
Sister Arnold and I when we were on splits.
My mission experience is one I never could have imagined. In a million years I would not have predicted or even imagined the situations, thoughts and feelings that I've experienced. I've struggled almost every day right to the point of breaking. Yet I never do. I've been stretched to the Point of snaping. Yet I never do. I go until I can't and right when I am about to scream and say I can't do this, I never do. This is how I know the atonement is real.
HE NEVER WILL LEAVE US
This power is real it gives me just a little bit more each day. Something to grasp onto, it's tangible, I can feel it physically in my chest and in my bones and in my breath.
So, I end where I began, my mission experience is one I could have never imagined. The atonements power is vaster than I can ever imagine. He stretches us so we can feel the vastness of his power.
