Reality and Expectations

Transfers happened two weeks ago, and I am no longer in a trio. I have a new companion. Her name is Sister Ishoy. Hermana Bailey left to go be a STL (Sister Training Leader) in North Sacramento! That left me here to lead out the area. (That means I am the companion who takes the lead-- we don't use the titles SR and JR companion in the mission because we want to foster equal partnership and revelation!) This was very intimidating to me as I had only been here one transfer (6 weeks).

Sister Ishoy has only been out one transfer longer than me! When we were first put together, I thought my job was to learn to love her. The first week was really hard.... but now we are best friends! This has been a good lesson for me to trust in the Lord and to be patient with transition. I have also realized that change can be stressful.

Above and Below: Here is Sister Bailey, Sister Carter and Me the day before we had transfers.

My New Companion is Sister Ishoy from Pennsylvania. See picture below.

We have Book of Mormon Study with the YSA ward every week. We invited one of the members in the YSA who was baptized this last year. She was not really sure she wanted to come and participate. She then told me that if I would hold her snake she would agree to come. Honestly, I think she thought that was a deal killer. I HATE SNAKES! However, I agreed and then wondered how to back out of the agreement when I saw the snake. But a deal is a deal. After I said a prayer in my heart, she handed me the snake. A picture speaks 1000 words.

However, after a few heavy breaths another silent prayer or two I was ready to give the snake back but I was pretty proud of myself for letting my fear not get the better of me. Again, a picture speaks 1000 words.

AND GUESS WHAT? It worked, she showed up for Book of Mormon Study and so did a bunch of other YSA members and we had a great time together. Not just studying but developing friendships with each other. See picture below.

Elder Soares came to Sacramento to do a YSA Devotional and meet with the members and the missionaries. I was so excited and showed up early enough to secure a front row seat. I think I was beaming from eye to eye. Sister Peterson, the mission nurse told me that after the devotional Elder Sores asked the Mission President, President Zimmerman, "Who was the sister missionary that sat on the front row smiling from ear to ear during my entire talk". President Zimmerman answered, "That is sister Frasier!". He was right, I did smile the entire time. I loved his talk and being taught by him. He talked of charity and his example shows it. Thats how you can tell he is a true disciple of Jesus Christ!!! He exemplifies charity for others! Below is a picture of me and Sister Ishoy on Temple Hill getting ready to go to the devotional.

As I said at the beginning the first week with my new companion was difficult for me. I had some real growing and learning. During this time when I was really struggling, I received a text saying "Hello, we have a package to drop off for Sister Frasier." It was my next-door neighbors from back home, The Tooley's. What a real blessing. It was a treat and gave me a boost that I really needed. Little Miss Virginia was here for a gymnastics meet! Thank you, Jen, and Virginia for taking time out of your trip to drop by for a few minutes and leave me a package. However, it was the hugs that I needed most! ❤️💕❤️

We are two weeks now past companion transfers, and the Stake had a goal setting meeting today! Those meetings always make me so hyped for the coming week. We set goals that really stretch us! But I'm so excited for it! It gives me and Sister Ishoy something to work towards. We've had 122 Baptisms in the California Sacramento in just the past 4 months!!!!!!

However, the thing I want you all to know is that the Lord has an interesting way of working. Because the most amazing miracle has happened, my companion became my best friend! Imagine that.

Today I was feeling so overwhelmed with everything that needed to be done. I said a prayer of faith and I was comforted... it didn't go away but I was comforted. I went to dinner and forgot myself and I felt a lot better! We had TWO referrals come through today! One was a guy that sounded super loopy... the other one is a really solid gal who has lots of questions! We are so hyped, and I am ready to get to work! The lord really is bringing forth his miracles here in the California Sacramento mission!!!

Love you all!

Sister Frasier
